Festag 25 to Wellentag 26 Sommerzeit
The heroes climbed up a level, and stood on the overhang, overlooking the four immobile Skeletons. Gard and Andred drew their bows, and with some trepidation Andred shot at one of the Skeletons. Although he hit, it did not move. With more bravado, Andred fired off three more shots, before the Skeleton he was aiming at finally fell apart.
However, Andred was running out of arrows, so Kadfina went back to the lower level. As she did so, Andred managed to destroy the next Skeleton. Carefully Kadfina opened the door. The Skeletons did not move. She gathered up the arrows, creeping into the room to do so. Still the Skeletons did not move. More emboldened, she marched up behind one of the Skeletons and swung her Flail with all her might. The Skeleton collapsed under the weight of the blow, but Kadfina was unbalanced, and leaned into the view of the final Skeleton. It lurched into life, and as it turned upon Kadfina Gard and Andred let loose their arrows. The Skeleton turned its baleful gaze upon Kadfina, but she struck it down. With all the undead vanquished, the other three heroes joined Kadfina and searched the room, looking for a reason as to why it was guarded.
They found nothing, although Andred was interested in a set of thick, blood red boots worn by one of the Skeletons and he emptied the bones out of them. They seemed to be a good fit, so he packed them away.
The heroes had a long debate about whether to look through the other door in this room, but they were concerned that they were in no state to get into another battle, so finally, with the level of lamp oil running low; they decided to return to the safety of the keep.
As they were returning, Detlef heard the sound of Goblins arguing. After Detlef warned the others, Kadfina charged into the tunnels to slay the accursed greenskins. The Goblins heard her, and while one stayed in the tight tunnel to delay her, three others formed a ring around the entrance of the tunnel, and the remainder began escaping up the ladder. Kadfina struck a mighty blow against the lone Goblin, and it turned and fled. Detlef pushed past Kadfina and found himself surrounded by the Goblins. Without any space to manoeuver, Detlef appeared to be in trouble, but he managed to force one of the Goblins back, and following it, gave enough space for Kadfina to join the battle. Kadfina was struck, but both she and Detlef managed to kill two of the Goblins.
Cautiously the heroes followed the Goblins up the ladder, as it was the only way back to the surface that they knew. Fortunately, the Goblins were gone, and the heroes made their way back to the keep, where they started a fire in the oven and barricaded themselves in.
Gard took the opportunity to read the Maleficarum, and although he did not understand parts of it, he was concerned and confused by what he read. It seemed to contradict, or at least cast in a different light some of the ‘facts’ he had learnt from the Bright College about wizardry.
Having rested overnight, the heroes relit the lantern and descended back into the dungeon. As Kadfina climbed down the ladder behind the secret door, she heard the sound of something falling. Although she paused to listen, nothing more was heard, so she began to climb down again. As she was almost at the bottom of the ladder, she heard a shout from behind her and a goblin charged at her and thrust a spear at her back.
