Backertag 6 to Bezahltag 7 Nachexen
Gard was unwilling to continue the conversation with the bookmaker any further, so having placed and won a bet, the heroes retreated to discuss their next course of action.
It was finally determined that Kadfina would return to the Broken Barrels and try and get more detail out of the Dwarf and Norscan, using her wiles, on Solvieg Thudrun. However, the pair were not at the broken barrel when they arrived.
The next morning the Innkeeper approached them and asked if they were planning on staying for the Spring Carnival (that would begin in about 1 and ½ weeks). They weren’t sure, as Kadfina was concerned that she would run out of money. She decided to look for work, so they travelled to Empire House, to look at the ‘Fools’ board for work. Gard identified a range of jobs that Kadfina was interested in, however the others were concerned that with a Daemon looking to kill both her and Andred, becoming distracted with other tasks was very risky.
Instead they decided to enter Empire House and inquire whether Lord Frederick was there. Coincidentally he was. The heroes asked whether he had managed to secure them an exemption, allowing them to wear their metal armour in the city. Lord Frederick was able to announce that he had, and handed them an official document. He then proposed that they join him for a second breakfast, where he took them to an expensive bakery and bought them glazed apricot pastries, and mint tinctured water. Something our heroes weren’t really ready to deal with.
He asked about their task, and the heroes filled him on their progress to date. When asked if there was anyone else who could help, he thought about it for a moment, and suggested two people.
Guillame Deschamps, a Jade Wizard and a foreigner, who was somewhat known for his battles against Chaos. And Lady Elizabeth Baern, an Altdorf noble who destroyed a Chaos Cult when she was much younger.
He wrote some more letters of introduction and a further letter of recommendation to Magister Messner. He also suggested they, and Theodora see a play together four days hence.
The heroes rode Lord Frederick’s carriage to the Jade College, where they met with Maitre Deschamps. Initially guarded in their discussions, they quickly opened up to the wizard. Guillame was unable to help them with where the Dagger of Yul K’Chaum might be – he suggested talking to the Light College – but he finally told them that he could help them destroy a Chaos Artifact. Unfortunately, the ritual would require a willing sacrifice.
The heroes returned to the mail post near the entrance to the Light College, to request that Magister Messner get in contact with them. With 2 and ½ hours to go before their dinner date with Theodora, the heroes pondered their next steps.
